Mula sa Lupa (From the Soil / From the Land)
2024
soil, washi (Japanese traditioonal paper), participation
For this co-creation workshop, I incorporated a systems thinking activity called Triangles where participants move interconnectedly—learning about interconnections we see in the community and the world. Through the movement, we created large-scale abstract artwork from soil on washi (traditional Japanese paper). The soil mixture was taught to me by a Talaandig artist. Talaandigs are one of the indigenous tribes of my hometown, Bukidnon and soil painting is one of their art practices.
This workshop is a project with Immigration Museum Tokyo and two public schools in the city of Adachi, in Tokyo, Japan.
